Quake II – Nintendo 64 Game

Quake II on the Nintendo 64 is a console version of id Software’s science-fiction first-person shooter. You fight the cybernetic Strogg across military bases, factories and mining complexes, working through objectives that involve finding keys, destroying machinery and opening routes deeper into enemy territory. The weapon set includes the blaster, shotgun, machine gun, chaingun, grenade and rocket launchers and the railgun, with armour and power-ups hidden through the levels. Enemies range from armoured infantry to heavier walking machines, and much of the play involves clearing rooms and corridors while managing ammunition. The N64 release restructures levels to fit the cartridge and adds split-screen multiplayer for local deathmatch alongside the single-player campaign, with a dark industrial art style and metal-tinged soundtrack.
