R-Type Final – PS2 Game

R-Type Final is a horizontal scrolling shooter for the PlayStation 2. You fly through stages of Bydo strongholds and organic tunnels, using the detachable Force pod as both a shield and a weapon while charging the wave cannon for heavier shots. Stages branch, so the route you take through the campaign depends on choices and performance during play, and there are multiple endings to reach across repeated runs. The game’s main draw is its very large hangar of playable craft, each with its own weapon set, speed and Force behaviour; ships are unlocked gradually through play and can be inspected and customised in a dedicated menu. Presentation uses 3D models on a 2D plane, with detailed backgrounds and long, multi-part boss encounters that require learning attack patterns.
