Ranger X – Sega Genesis Game

Ranger X is a side-scrolling action game for the Genesis in which you pilot an armored mech. Your machine can hover with a jetpack, walk along the ground, and fire in multiple directions, and it is accompanied by a support unit that can be repositioned and used to attack independently or ridden as a fast-moving vehicle. Weapon energy recharges over time, which encourages switching between your standard gun and heavier special attacks rather than holding down one button. Levels move through varied outdoor and industrial environments filled with enemy infantry, turrets, and larger machines, with boss encounters closing out stages. The game is known for pushing the Genesis hardware with detailed sprite work, layered backgrounds, and color effects.
