Renegade Racers – PS1 Game

Renegade Racers is an arcade-style racing game for the original PlayStation, built around cartoon characters and weapon pickups rather than realistic driving. You choose a driver and car and take on the field across a set of themed tracks, collecting items scattered on the course and using them to slow rivals or defend your own position. Handling is loose and forgiving, with jumps, shortcuts and hazards worked into the track layouts. Modes include single races and a championship where results carry over between events, and there is multiplayer for racing against another player on a split screen. Presentation follows the kart-racing template of the era, with exaggerated character art, bright track settings and an emphasis on close, contact-heavy racing over lap times.
