Riven The Sequel to Myst – PS1 Game

Riven is a first-person adventure and the follow-up to Myst. You arrive on a fractured world of linked islands and explore it alone, moving from viewpoint to viewpoint through pre-rendered scenes with no combat and no on-screen inventory clutter. Progress comes from observation: you examine machinery, ride between islands on trams and rail systems, read journals, and work out how the local numbering, symbols and cultures function, then apply that understanding to the switches, domes and mechanisms scattered across the landscape. The puzzles are woven into the environment rather than presented as separate challenges, and the story of the world’s inhabitants and its maker is pieced together from what you find. The game spans multiple discs, with ambient sound and full-motion video used for the characters you meet.
