Shadow Man – Nintendo 64 Game

A third-person action-adventure game for the Nintendo 64, based on the Valiant comics character. You play as Michael LeRoi, the Shadow Man, who can pass between the living world and Deadside, a realm of the dead. Play alternates between exploring real-world locations and navigating the interconnected environments of Deadside, fighting enemies with pistols and other weapons and solving environmental puzzles. Progress is gated by items and abilities you collect, so areas visited early often need to be revisited once you can reach previously blocked paths, and you gather Dark Souls to open the way further. The presentation leans on horror imagery, with dimly lit temples, cathedrals and caverns, and the story deals with serial killers and occult prophecy. Movement includes climbing, swimming and platforming alongside combat.
