Sherlock Holmes Volume I – Sega CD Game

Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective Volume I is a full-motion video mystery game for the Sega CD, based on the tabletop detective game of the same name. You take the role of Holmes and investigate cases presented through live-action video scenes filmed with actors. Rather than action or arcade play, the game is about research: you choose locations to visit around London, interview witnesses and contacts, consult newspaper archives and a directory of people and places, and piece together what happened. When you believe you have solved a case, you go to court and answer questions about the crime, and your score depends on how accurately you answer and how few leads you needed to follow. The pace is slow and reading-heavy, closer to an interactive mystery than a conventional adventure game.
