Spot Goes to Hollywood is a platformer starring Spot, the red-dot mascot associated with 7 Up. This PlayStation version presents its stages in an isometric, three-quarter view, so movement runs along diagonals and judging depth when jumping between platforms is a core part of the challenge. The theme is old movie genres: levels are built around soundstage settings, with hazards and enemies to match, and Spot moves, jumps, and collects items as he works through each set. Progress generally means finding a required number of pickups or reaching an exit while avoiding traps and drops. The presentation is bright and cartoonish, with animated interludes tying the film-lot premise together. Versions of the game also appeared on other systems of the period, with this release using the PlayStation’s disc-based presentation.
