Star Control – Sega Genesis Game

Star Control on Sega Genesis combines space strategy with direct ship-to-ship combat. Two sides, an alliance of species and a hostile coalition, contest a star map made up of systems and planets. On the strategic layer you spend resources to build ships and crew, claim worlds and move fleets between stars. When opposing forces meet, play shifts to a top-down arena duel where two ships manoeuvre with inertia around a scrolling starfield, each vessel having its own weapon, special ability and handling characteristics, so matchups matter as much as raw firepower. There are scenarios of varying length and difficulty, and a practice mode for fighting melee battles without the strategic map. Games can be played against the computer or against a second player.
