Super Mario Land – Gameboy Game

Super Mario Land is a side-scrolling platformer for the Game Boy. You control Mario across a series of stages set outside the usual Mushroom Kingdom, running, jumping, and stomping enemies to reach the goal at the end of each level. Power-ups include a mushroom that makes Mario larger and a flower that lets him throw a bouncing Superball, which ricochets off surfaces and can collect coins. Two stages replace the usual platforming with side-scrolling shooting sequences in which Mario pilots a vehicle and fires at oncoming enemies. Each world ends with a boss fight, and reaching an upper exit at a stage’s end leads to a bonus game for extra lives. The sprite work and enemy designs are specific to this handheld entry.
