Tecmo Super NBA Basketball brings licensed NBA teams and players to the Genesis in five-on-five action. You control one player at a time on offense and defense, with the game switching your control as possession changes. Play calling, substitutions and team rosters let you manage lineups between quarters, and the presentation includes on-court sprites viewed from a side-scrolling perspective with a scoreboard and stat tracking. Modes cover single exhibition games as well as extended play across a season, with standings and player statistics carried along the way. Two players can compete head to head or take on the computer. The pace favors quick passing and shot timing rather than deep simulation menus, making it approachable for pick-up games while still keeping real team and player identities intact.
