The Godfather – PS2 Game

The Godfather is an open-world action game set in a recreation of 1940s and 1950s New York drawn from the film. You create your own character, a low-level associate who works his way up through the Corleone family, taking orders and building a reputation. Between story missions that intersect with events from the film, you extort local businesses, take over rackets and fight rival families for control of neighbourhoods across the city’s boroughs. Combat includes gunplay and a melee system that lets you grab opponents, shove them into objects and apply pressure to intimidate shopkeepers. Earnings can be spent on weapon and ability upgrades as your rank increases. Driving connects the districts, and voice work from several of the film’s cast appears in the game.
