The Lion King – Gameboy Game

The Lion King on Game Boy is a side-scrolling platformer based on the Disney animated film. The game follows the story’s structure, starting with Simba as a cub and later continuing as an adult lion. As the cub, you run, jump and pounce on smaller enemies and can roar to stun or move certain creatures; as the grown Simba, you gain heavier attacks such as clawing and biting. Stages draw on locations from the film, including the savanna, the elephant graveyard and the stampede sequence, mixing platform jumping with enemy avoidance and some climbing. The handheld version is built for the Game Boy’s monochrome screen and simplified controls, with checkpoints and a limited pool of lives. Music adapts themes from the movie soundtrack.
