Tonic Trouble is a 3D platformer for the Nintendo 64 in which you play as Ed, a lanky alien janitor who drops a canister of strange liquid onto Earth. The substance mutates the landscape and its inhabitants, and Ed is sent down to clean up the mess he made. Play involves running, jumping and climbing through themed areas, collecting items, solving light environmental puzzles and dealing with mutated enemies and oversized vegetables. Ed gains tools and abilities as he goes, which open up routes that were blocked earlier and change how certain obstacles can be handled. The game leans on cartoon presentation and slapstick, with exaggerated character designs and comic set pieces built around the transformed world and the villain behind its takeover.
