Top Gear Overdrive is an arcade racing game for the Nintendo 64. You race a field of cars over a set of courses, with handling tuned for drifting and high speed rather than simulation accuracy. Winning events earns money that can be put toward faster vehicles and upgrades as you work through the game’s championship structure. Races are viewed from behind the car, and tracks run through a mix of city, desert and countryside settings with shortcuts to find. A split-screen mode lets a second player join in. As with other games in the series, the soundtrack leans on rock music, with tunes playing over the action during races.
