Virtua Racing Deluxe – Sega 32X Game

Virtua Racing Deluxe is a polygonal racing game for the Sega 32X, expanding on Sega’s arcade original using the add-on’s extra processing power for smoother frame rates and more detailed track scenery. You race open-wheel and other car types around 3D circuits against AI opponents, extending a countdown timer by reaching checkpoints. Automatic and manual transmission options are available, along with several selectable camera viewpoints ranging from an in-car perspective to distant external angles. Alongside the circuits carried over from the arcade version, the 32X release adds further tracks and additional vehicle classes with their own handling characteristics. Two-player split-screen racing is supported. The driving emphasises braking points, cornering lines and consistent lap times rather than collisions, and times are recorded for comparison across runs.
