Wayne Gretzky’s 3D Hockey – Nintendo 64 Game

Wayne Gretzky’s 3D Hockey is an arcade-style ice hockey game for the Nintendo 64. Play is fast and simplified compared with simulation hockey: teams are small, the puck moves quickly, and heavy body checks are encouraged rather than penalized into oblivion. Controls cover passing, shooting, dekes and checking, with an emphasis on quick end-to-end rushes and one-timers rather than careful line management. The 3D presentation follows the action with a camera that keeps the whole rink in view. You can play exhibition matches or take a team through longer competition, and multiplayer support lets several people share a game on one console. It suits players who want pick-up-and-play hockey with straightforward controls rather than detailed rosters and statistics.
