Wonder Boy – Sega Master System Game

Wonder Boy is a side-scrolling platformer for the Sega Master System in which you control a boy running through jungle, cave, ocean and mountain areas to rescue his kidnapped girlfriend. A vitality meter drains constantly as you play, so you have to keep collecting fruit scattered along the route to stay alive; touching an enemy or hazard ends a life outright. Your main attack is a stone hatchet thrown ahead of you, and hidden eggs contain items including a skateboard that speeds you up and absorbs one hit, plus a guardian angel and other bonuses. The stages are split into short segments with a boss encounter at the end of each area. Play is fast and momentum-driven, with jumps over rocks, fires, water and platforms requiring precise timing.
