1942 – NES Game

1942 is a vertically scrolling shooter set in the Pacific theatre of the Second World War. You fly a fighter plane up the screen against waves of enemy aircraft, with formations that sweep in from the edges and larger bomber groups that require sustained fire. The signature move is the loop-the-loop, a limited-use roll that flips your plane out of danger and through incoming bullets. Power-ups dropped by specific enemy formations upgrade your firepower, add escort planes that fly alongside you, and grant extra loops. Stages are numbered as missions, each ending with a tally of your hit rate, and enemy density climbs steadily as you advance. This Nintendo Entertainment System version adapts the arcade original for home play.
