Doom – SNES Game

Doom on Super Nintendo is a conversion of id Software’s first-person shooter, made possible on the console through the Super FX chip. You fight as a marine through corridors and rooms filled with demons, viewed from the first person, collecting keycards and flipping switches to progress while looking for hidden stashes of ammunition and armour. The weapon set includes the pistol, shotgun, chaingun, rocket launcher, plasma rifle and BFG, plus the chainsaw. Enemies such as imps, zombie soldiers and cacodemons are drawn as sprites, and difficulty settings alter their numbers and behaviour. The SNES version renders the action in a smaller viewport with a status bar showing health, armour, ammunition and keys, and features a soundtrack arranged for the console’s audio hardware.
