Dragon Warrior – NES Game

Dragon Warrior is the NES version of the role-playing game known in Japan as Dragon Quest. You play a lone hero, descended from the legendary Erdrick, who sets out from Tantegel Castle to recover the stolen Ball of Light, rescue Princess Gwaelin and confront the Dragonlord. Play alternates between a top-down overworld and towns, dungeons and caves, with random encounters that switch to a first-person view showing a single enemy against a framed background. Battles are turn-based and menu-driven, with options to fight, cast spells, use items or run. Progress depends on grinding for gold and experience, buying better weapons and armor, and buying keys and torches for locked doors and dark caverns. Progress is stored in an Adventure Log on the cartridge.
