Abadox – NES Game

Abadox is a scrolling shoot ’em up for the NES set inside the body of a colossal living creature. Stages alternate between horizontal and vertical scrolling as you fly through fleshy corridors, organs and bone, fighting biological enemies and large boss forms. Your ship is destroyed by a single hit, sending you back to a checkpoint and stripping the weapon upgrades you have collected, so keeping power-ups alive is central to making progress. Those upgrades include improved shots, speed increases and protective options gathered from defeated enemies. The graphics lean into grotesque organic detail, and the level layouts include narrow passages that require precise movement as much as shooting. It is a single-player game structured around learning and repeating each stage.
