John Elway’s Quarterback – NES Game

A football game for the Nintendo Entertainment System bearing quarterback John Elway’s name, adapted from the arcade game Quarterback. Play centres on selecting a play from a small set of options, then taking control on the field as the action scrolls. On offense you drop back, pick a receiver and time the throw, or hand off and look for running room; on defense you control a defender against the computer’s call. Downs, yardage and the clock are tracked on screen. The design is arcade-oriented rather than simulation-heavy, with a short menu of plays and fast possessions. Games can be played against the computer or with a second player, using standard football rules for scoring and possession changes.
