Tennis – NES Game

Tennis is a straightforward sports title for the Nintendo Entertainment System, presenting matches from a side-on view of the court. You can play alone against the computer at a choice of difficulty settings or take on a second player in a head-to-head match. Controls are kept simple: you move your player along the baseline or up to the net and time your button press to hit forehands, backhands, lobs and smashes, with placement determined by where you are standing and the direction you hold. Mario appears as the umpire, seated at the side of the court and calling the score as points are played out. Matches follow standard tennis scoring through games and sets, and the pace picks up noticeably at the higher difficulty levels.
