Air Fortress – NES Game

Air Fortress is an action game for the Nintendo Entertainment System built around two alternating styles of play. Each stage begins with a side-scrolling flying section in which you ride a craft toward an enormous enemy fortress, shooting through waves of obstacles and projectiles. Once inside, the game shifts to on-foot exploration: your character wears a jetpack and can hover freely through the fortress corridors, armed with a blaster and a supply of bombs for tougher barriers and defences. The goal inside each fortress is to locate and destroy its reactor core, after which a timer starts and you must retrace your route and escape before the structure explodes. Energy powers both your movement and your weapons, so managing pickups is part of surviving each interior.
