Asterix and the Great Rescue – Sega Master System Game

This is the Sega Master System version of Asterix and the Great Rescue, a side-scrolling platformer drawn from the comic series by Goscinny and Uderzo. You play as the Gaulish heroes as they set out to recover friends captured by the Romans, moving through stages that call for jumping between platforms, avoiding hazards and dealing with legionaries in the way. The 8-bit presentation uses sprite work and backgrounds modeled on the comics’ characters and settings. Progress comes from learning each level’s layout, timing your jumps and finding items along the route. It is a single-player game, and it is a distinct build from the Genesis release rather than an identical conversion, with its own stage design suited to the Master System hardware.
