Battle of Olympus – NES Game

The Battle of Olympus is a side-scrolling action adventure for the NES set in ancient Greece. You play as Orpheus, searching for your love Helene after she is taken to the underworld, and travel across regions named for real Greek locations such as Attica, Arcadia and Crete. Play mixes platforming and combat with exploration: you talk to villagers and gods for hints, find hidden passages, and gather items and weapons that open up areas you could not previously reach. Olive branches serve as currency, and the various Greek deities grant abilities in exchange for your help. Enemies are drawn from mythology, and progress is saved by password. The interconnected map and upgrade-driven structure invite comparison to other exploratory NES action games.
