Chiller – NES Game

Chiller is a horror-themed light gun shooter for the NES, playable with the Zapper or by aiming a cursor with the controller. Each screen presents a static, macabre tableau, from dungeons and torture chambers to graveyard scenes, and you shoot at targets scattered throughout the picture. Along with the figures and creatures, much of the scenery can be shot apart, and hitting hidden objects and details adds to your score. There is no platforming or movement between rooms in the usual sense: progress comes from clearing enough targets within a time limit before the next scene appears. The grim subject matter and gore are central to the presentation. Play is score-driven and arcade-style, with short scenes that can be replayed for better totals.
