Circus Caper – NES Game

Circus Caper is a side-scrolling action game for the Nintendo Entertainment System with a circus theme. You play as a boy who visits a circus and must fight his way through it after his companion is taken, moving left to right through stages populated by clowns, animals and other performers turned hostile. Combat is close-range, with attacks and jumps used to deal with enemies and avoid hazards, and stages end in encounters with larger foes. Between areas the game uses simple story screens to move the plot along. The look is bright and cartoonish, drawing on big-top imagery for its backgrounds and enemy designs. It is a fairly straightforward action-platformer built around learning enemy placement and timing your swings.
