Doom – Sega 32X Game

Doom on the Sega 32X is a conversion of id Software’s first-person shooter for the Genesis add-on. You play a marine fighting through military installations and demonic environments, viewed from the first person, searching for keycards and switches to open the way forward while hunting for hidden rooms. Weapons include the pistol, shotgun, chaingun, rocket launcher and plasma rifle, used against imps, zombie soldiers, cacodemons and other enemies drawn as sprites. Multiple difficulty settings adjust how many enemies appear and how hard they hit. The 32X version presents the action in a reduced window on screen, a trade-off the hardware makes for frame rate, and includes a version of the game’s music through the Genesis sound hardware. A link-cable option supports head-to-head play between two systems.
