F-Zero – SNES Game

F-Zero is a futuristic racing game for the Super Nintendo, built around the console’s Mode 7 scaling to give its tracks a sense of speed and sweeping curves. You pick one of four hovering machines, each with its own balance of top speed, acceleration and grip, and compete through a series of championship cups against a field of rival racers. Contact with track walls and rivals drains an energy meter, which doubles as your health bar; driving over recharge strips in the pit area restores it, so survival is as much a concern as lap times. Tracks feature jumps, magnets, slippery sections and hazards that punish sloppy lines. Alongside the cups there is a practice mode for learning courses and chasing lap records.
