Faceball 2000 – Gameboy Game

Faceball 2000 is a first-person maze shooter for the Game Boy, adapted from the earlier computer game MIDI Maze. You navigate corridors rendered in simple wireframe-style 3D, hunting floating smiley-faced opponents while dodging their shots. Movement is grid-and-corridor based rather than free-roaming, and the emphasis is on learning maze layouts, using teleporters and elevators, and clearing each stage of enemies before moving deeper. A single-player campaign strings the mazes together in sequence, with new enemy types and hazards appearing as you progress. The game also supports head-to-head play over the Game Link cable, turning the mazes into deathmatch arenas. Controls are kept simple to suit the two-button handheld, with strafing and firing handled from the D-pad and face buttons.
