G.I. Joe

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero brings the Joe team to the NES as a side-scrolling run-and-gun. Before each mission you assemble a small squad from a roster of Joes, each with their own primary weapon, movement traits and special attack, and you can swap between the members you brought at any time during a stage. Levels send you through varied terrain toward a boss confrontation with Cobra forces, and health, ammo and item pickups are scattered along the way. You climb, duck and fire in multiple directions, and losing a character means continuing with whoever remains. Choosing which Joes to deploy for a given environment is a large part of the strategy, since some cope better with tight corridors or airborne enemies than others.
