Ghoul School – NES Game

Ghoul School is a horror-themed action game for the NES. You explore a high school overrun by monsters at night, moving between rooms and floors as a side-scrolling character, fighting off ghouls, skeletons and other creatures. Progress depends on searching the building for items and weapons and working out which doors, stairways and areas they open up, so there is a strong element of backtracking through the school’s interconnected map. Combat is close-range and simple, with the challenge coming largely from managing your health and figuring out where to go next. The presentation leans on B-movie monster imagery rather than gore.
