Gyruss – NES Game

Gyruss is a tube shooter for the Nintendo Entertainment System, based on Konami’s arcade game. Rather than moving freely around the screen, your ship circles the outer edge of a circular playfield while enemies emerge from the centre and spiral outward toward you. You rotate around the ring to line up shots and dodge incoming fire and formations. The journey takes you inward through the solar system, passing planets between stages, with bonus rounds and power-ups that upgrade your weapon along the way. Enemy waves arrive in patterned flight paths that must be learned and countered, and the perspective gives the action a constant sense of moving forward into space. Play is score-driven, with escalating difficulty across repeated planetary stages.
