Ice Climber – NES Game

Ice Climber is a single-screen vertical climbing game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. You play as Popo, joined by Nana in two-player mode, swinging a wooden mallet to smash holes in the ice above you and then jumping up through the gaps. Each mountain is made of stacked layers, and enemies such as waddling Topis and birds knock you around or repair the ice you break. Sliding platforms and slippery footing make precise jumping the core challenge, since falling off the bottom of the screen costs you a life. Vegetables and other food items can be collected along the way, and reaching the summit lets you leap for a condor in a timed bonus sequence. Two players share the same screen and can interfere with each other.
