Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – NES Game

A home conversion of the Temple of Doom arcade game for the NES. You control Indiana Jones as he works through the underground mines beneath Pankot Palace, freeing enslaved children from cages and searching for the Sankara Stones. Indy’s whip is your main tool, used to strike guards, grab items and swing across gaps, while thugs, bats and other hazards move through the maze-like caverns. Between the mine areas you ride a mine cart along branching tracks, choosing routes at switch points and avoiding collisions and drops. Stages are viewed from an overhead angle and reward learning the layouts, since you need to locate the children and the exit before hazards wear you down. The presentation follows the film’s set pieces, including its lava-filled chambers.
