Jaws – NES Game

Jaws for the NES is a licensed tie-in to the shark film. Play alternates between an overhead map of the ocean, where you move your boat around and try to track the shark, and side-scrolling underwater stages entered when you dive. In those sections you control a diver, swimming through the water and fighting jellyfish, rays and other sea life while collecting items and shells that can be traded for upgrades to your strength and weaponry. Building up power in these stages prepares you for the encounters with the shark itself, which culminate in a sequence where you line up your boat to strike the final blow. Between dives you can also use a plane to look for the shark’s position. The game is short and score-driven.
