Game Boy Color football from EA Sports’ long-running NFL series. You choose an NFL team and play exhibition matches or a season, picking plays from a playbook screen and then taking direct control on the field for passing, rushing, tackling and kicking. The handheld version keeps the core structure of downs, field position and clock management while paring back the visuals and options to fit the hardware, using a scrolling side-on view of the field and small player sprites. Menus let you set difficulty, quarter length and teams, and basic statistics are tracked as you play. It is aimed at quick portable games rather than the extensive franchise and roster management of the console releases.
