NFL Blitz 2000 on Game Boy Color is a handheld take on the arcade football series, keeping the short field, small squads and hard-hitting play of the console versions in a simplified form. Drives are quick: you choose from a compact icon playbook, snap the ball, and use turbo to pull away from tacklers or chase down the quarterback. Passing tends to dominate because first downs need more ground than in standard football, and defenders can keep hitting after the play. Controls are pared back for the two-button handheld, and the graphics are scaled down to fit the screen. Modes include single games and season-style play against the computer, with link-cable support for playing against another Game Boy Color owner.
