Pinocchio – SNES Game

This Super Nintendo release is a platformer adaptation of Disney’s animated Pinocchio. You guide the wooden puppet through stages built around scenes from the film, moving between locations such as the puppet theatre, Pleasure Island and the underwater search for Geppetto. Levels are traversed by running, jumping, climbing and dodging obstacles, with occasional variations that change the objective or the pace of a stage. The SNES version uses detailed sprite work and colourful backgrounds to imitate the look of the animation, and the soundtrack draws on themes associated with the story. Between levels, story images help connect one setting to the next. Play is straightforward in layout, asking you to read each screen’s hazards, judge jumps carefully and reach the end of the stage.
