Sonic the Hedgehog – Sega Master System Game

This is the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog made for the Sega Master System. It follows the same premise as the 16-bit game, with Sonic running and jumping through zones of loops, springs and spikes to stop Dr. Robotnik, but the levels are built specifically for the 8-bit hardware and are laid out differently, with a stronger emphasis on platforming and exploration than on sustained high speed. Zones include Green Hill, Bridge, Jungle, Labyrinth and Scrap Brain, each ending in a boss fight against one of Robotnik’s machines. Rings act as your protection and are scattered through the stages, and Chaos Emeralds are hidden within the levels themselves rather than awarded in special stages, affecting the ending you see.
