Spawn – SNES Game

Spawn for the Super Nintendo is a side-scrolling action game based on Todd McFarlane’s comic book character. You control Spawn, moving through urban and hellish environments while fighting off waves of enemies using melee attacks and his cape and chains. Progress is level by level, with platforming sections, hazards and boss encounters between stages, and the presentation leans on the comic’s dark palette and character designs. Combat is direct and close range for the most part, so learning enemy patterns and positioning is a large part of getting through each area. As with many 16-bit licensed action games, there is no save system to lean on in the way later titles offer, and runs are built around working steadily further into the game.
