The Guardian Legend – NES Game

An NES action game that switches between two very different styles. You play as a Guardian sent to the planetoid Naju, which is filled with alien life and set on a collision course with Earth. In overhead exploration sections you move on foot in android form, shooting enemies, opening doors and searching a sprawling labyrinth of corridors and rooms. Entering certain areas transforms you into a fighter craft for vertically scrolling shoot-’em-up stages that must be cleared to reach the next objective. Along the way you find weapon subsystems, energy upgrades and passwords, and you manage a limited supply of chips used to power special weapons. The two halves feed into each other, with shooter stages unlocking further ground exploration.
