Wonder Boy in Monster Land – Sega Master System Game

Wonder Boy in Monster Land blends side-scrolling action platforming with light role-playing systems. You move right through themed areas, hacking at enemies with a sword, jumping over hazards and dropping into towns and shops between stretches of combat. Gold collected from defeated enemies buys better swords, armor, shields and boots, along with potions and other items that change how much damage you take and deal. A timer steadily drains your life, so hourglasses dropped by enemies and found in hidden spots keep you moving forward rather than lingering. Each region closes with a boss fight against a large creature that requires learning an attack pattern. Doors scattered through the levels hide merchants, hint-givers and mini-games. The Master System version presents the whole quest as a single continuous journey through Monster Land.
