X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse is a side-scrolling action game for the Super Nintendo, developed and published by Capcom. You take control of five X-Men across a series of stages, with each character playing differently: Wolverine relies on claws and close-range attacks, Cyclops fires optic blasts, Gambit throws charged cards, Psylocke uses her psychic blade and Beast uses his strength and agility. Special moves are performed with fighting-game style directional inputs, so learning each character’s commands is central to progress. Stages are structured around a specific hero, with enemies, hazards and a boss fight at the end, and later sections bring the team together against larger threats. Presentation uses large sprites and comic-styled artwork. Play consists of platforming, crowd fighting and pattern-based boss encounters, with limited continues pushing you to learn each stage layout.
