Bram Stoker’s Dracula – SNES Game

Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the Super Nintendo is a side-scrolling action game adapted from the film version of the novel. You advance through gothic settings such as crypts, streets and the count’s castle, fighting bats, wolves and other undead servants with hand-to-hand attacks and weapons picked up along the way. Stages mix platforming with combat, and a health bar plus limited lives means enemy patterns need to be learned rather than charged through. Short story sequences link the levels together and follow the pursuit of Dracula. Presentation leans on dark colour palettes, atmospheric music and large sprites for the boss encounters that close out sections. It is a compact licensed action title built on the same template as many early 1990s film tie-ins for the console.
