Gauntlet II – Gameboy Game

Gauntlet II on Game Boy adapts the overhead dungeon crawling of the arcade series to handheld hardware. You choose a hero class with its own balance of melee power, ranged attack and magic, then fight through maze-like levels while monsters stream out of generators. Destroying those generators is the only way to stop the flow of enemies, so you push forward rather than hold ground. Your health drains as time passes, which makes the food scattered around each floor a constant concern alongside keys, treasure and potions. Doors, walls and hidden passages shape the routes through each stage, and exits drop you into the next level of the dungeon. The action is built on continuous movement, firing while retreating and deciding which items are worth the detour, all in a compact monochrome presentation.
