The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse is a Capcom side-scrolling platformer for the Super Nintendo. Pluto has been taken by Emperor Pete, and Mickey travels through a series of themed worlds to get him back, running and jumping past enemies and hazards and facing a boss at the end of each area. Its defining mechanic is Mickey’s set of costumes, each granting a different ability: they let him douse and vacuum enemies, cast magic, or climb surfaces, and puzzles are built around switching between them at the right moment. Enemies can also be picked up and thrown. Shops let you spend collected currency on items such as extra health. The game uses large, brightly colored sprites and animation styled after Disney cartoons.
