Metroid 2 Return of Samus – Gameboy Game

Samus Aran travels to the planet SR388 to wipe out the Metroid species at its source. This Game Boy entry keeps the series’ formula of exploration and backtracking: you descend through interconnected caverns and tunnels, gathering beam upgrades, missiles and suit abilities that open routes you could not reach before. Progress is tracked by a counter of remaining Metroids, and clearing them out gradually alters the areas you have already visited, draining acid and revealing new paths. Along the way Metroids appear in later stages of their life cycle, each with different attack patterns, building toward a confrontation deep underground. The presentation is monochrome, with large sprites and sparse music that leaves long stretches of ambient sound. There is no in-game map, so navigation relies on landmarks and memory.
